Fitchburg, MA – WPKZ  AM 1280 and 105.3 FM ‘The K-Zone’  announced long-time Worcester and Boston radio news and sports personality Sherman Whitman has joined the station as co-host and sports anchor  for the K-Zone Morning Kommute with Travis Condon effective Monday April  4th.

Mr. Whitman,  a  resident of Fitchburg,  spent the last 5 years with WCRN AM 830 and  the past two years as the play by play voice of Worcester Bravehearts.   Prior to his time at WCRN, Sherman was part of the news and broadcast programming at WTAG in Paxton. Mass.;  and WBCN and WKLB in Boston.   Sherman will be responsible for bringing his experience and insight to the sports and local news reporting to the WPKZ morning show, and adding his voice and experience to the broadcast of local high school sports and the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs.

K-Zone Sales Manager and radio veteran, Howie Kahn, on the news, “I’ve known Sherman for 15 years, he is one of the most trusted and respected radio voices in Worcester County, his addition will certainly strengthen our presence in the region.”

On a favorite sports moment,  Sherman pointed to his  2002 coverage of  the Jesse Burkett League Little League All-Stars’ appearance in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA, and the ensuing parade in Worcester for the local stars.   “It was a wonderful experience highlighted by the win over the team from New York,  and really brought Worcester together.”
