LEOMINSTER — Firefighters from four different communities responded to the scene of a building fire on Pleasant Street Wednesday afternoon, crews battling the two-alarm fire on the second floor of a three-story residence. However, crews unfortunately had to return to extinguish it again when it reignited in the early morning hours Thursday.
At about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 4, Leominster Firefighters first responded to a building fire at three-unit apartment building at 33 Pleasant Street, according to multiple emergency dispatch reports. One dispatch report said that “crews were working a fire on the second floor of a three-story residential structure.”
After putting out the fire, crews were forced to return again when it reignited at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday morning, calling in mutual aid to assist in extinguishing it for a final time. No injuries were reported.
Both were two-alarm fires and required assistance from several surrounding cities and towns.
Leominster, Fitchburg, Lunenburg and Sterling Fire Departments all responded to the scene. Westminster, Ayer, Shirley and Devens Fire Departments covered the Leominster fire stations and Gardner Fire sent a ladder truck to a Fitchburg fire station.
A dispatcher said no staff were available to provide any comment as of deadline.
