Critics of a policy limiting local and migrant families’ stays in state-run overflow shelters to five business days pressed Gov. Maura Healey Thursday to pause or rescind the rule one day before the first batch of people were required to exit their temporary housing.

Gov. Maura Healey banned migrant families from sleeping at Logan Airport starting July 9, a move that will force the oftentimes large crowd that has used the airport as a shelter to find new places to sleep, she announced in a statement Friday.

Gov. Maura Healey dispatched members of her administration to visit the southern border in Texas this week in an effort to make connections with federal immigration officials and “educate them” about shelter issues in Massachusetts, a spokesperson said.
