LEOMINSTER — The Board of Registrars announced that they would be holding a recount of the ballots relating to the election race for Leominster City Council, Ward 1 last week, on Nov. 21.
Candidate Eladia Jessica Romero-Rodriguez got 551 votes for the Ward 1 city council seat during the Nov. 7 election and Robert Tocci received 562, beating his opponent by 11 votes. This recount was called after the filing and the certification of a Petition for Recount.
This process will entail the hand counting of the ballots as submitted by the voters of Ward 1.
Each candidate has received notice of this recount and is permitted to appoint up to four agents to participate in this process. The general public may witness but cannot participate in the recount.
This recount will begin promptly at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2023, in the City Hall auditorium, at Leominster City Hall, 25 West St., and will continue until all votes are counted.
