A crash between a moped and a Jeep on Martha’s Vineyard Thursday left a woman from Florida dead and two other women hurt, Massachusetts State Police said.
Julia Harris, a 41-year-old from Fort Lauderdale, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, on Seaview Avenue in Oak Bluffs, Massachusetts State Police said Friday.
Investigators believe Harris, who was driving the moped, lost control, crossed the median of the road and hit a Jeep Wrangler headed the other way. While she was pronounced dead at the scene, her passenger, a 40-year-old woman from Boston, was injured, but is in stable condition after being flown to a Boston hospital, police said.
Both women on the moped had helmets on, investigators found.
There were several women in the Jeep, one of whom had minor injuries, according to police, who were still investigating what happened Friday.

A man accused of killing his father in his Plymouth, Massachusetts, home is expected to face a judge Friday.
Anthony Paluzzi, 73, was reported “unresponsive and bleeding from a laceration to the neck area” in a 911 call from his wife about 6:26 a.m. Thursday, according to District Attorney Tim Cruz. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Paluzzi’s cause of death was being investigated, but Cruz said it appeared preliminarily that he died of a stab to the neck, with other injuries possible causes as well. The scene was bloody, and a kitchen knife was found nearby.
Police announced they were seeking Paluzzi’s son, 26-year-old Matthew Paluzzi, as they investigated, Cruz said.
Video from Massachusetts State Police shows officers catching up to Matthew Paluzzi’s Nissan Murano and quickly surrounding it before arresting him.
“I’m not going to classify anything as domestic at this point, but I will say that the Plymouth police are familiar with Mr. Mathew,” said Cruz.
“I know they had some problems, but you can’t even imagine this happening,” said Lisa Caola, neighbor. “It’s just I want to cry. I’ve already cried, so that’s why I’m keeping my glasses on.”
Matthew Paluzzi faces a murder charge and is scheduled to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court.

A truck rolled over and hit an overpass bridge on Boston’s Storrow Drive, Massachusetts State Police said Friday.
The tractor-truck struck the westbound overpass at the Fenway exit just after 6 a.m., according to police, who said the incident is causing traffic delays.
Video of the incident shows the truck on its side with the roof peeled off.
Authorities say the crash was “caused by following a GPS.” No injuries were reported.

Residents in Massachusetts were left cleaning up severe storm damage Friday, dealing with fallen trees and debris.
A large tree fell on the back side of the Philoon family home on Porter Road — one of several houses that got damaged in Chelmsford on Thursday.
The tree stretched across the backyard after the top end of it came crashing down through the kitchen, smashing windows and leaving glass everywhere.
Aidan Philoon was home with his brother while his parents were on vacation on Cape Cod, leaving their children alone for the first time in 20 years.
Aiden said he was taking a nap when he heard a loud crack and felt the ground shake.
“The cats are coming screaming down the hallway. So, I look out and there’s glass all over the kitchen, all over the dining room. The tree’s in the roof. It’s raining inside,” said Aidan.
“If we hadn’t been on vacation, I do home daycare. I would have had a house full of kids, so that’s a blessing in disguise, I guess,” said Michelle Philoon.
The Philoon family said an inspector saw structural damage. The family isn’t allowed back in without the inspector.
They’re told that with the tree there, the house could collapse.
As of Friday morning, Porter Road remains pitch dark. The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency reports at least 230 customers are without power in this town.
