A 17-year-old boy was shot while riding a scooter in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts, on the Fourth of July, police said.
The shooting happened at about 9 p.m. on Robins Street in the parking lot of the Pomponoho Pines Condominiums, according to East Bridgewater police.
When officers arrived, they found the boy shot in the stomach, police said. He was taken to the hospital. His condition wasn’t immediately released.
The victim and another 17-year-old boy were riding the scooter when the shooting occurred, authorities said.
The incident, police said, wasn’t random.

Shell casings were found on several streets near a park in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on the Fourth of July, according to police.
Officers responded to Harvard Street by Greene-Rose Heritage Park at around 10:05 p.m. for a report of gunshot fired, Cambridge police said.
Police say shell casings were also found near that area, including on Dickinson and Washington streets.
No injuries were reported.

A Boston man is accused of grabbing and trying to drag a child away from a Fourth of July gathering in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood, according to police.
Manuel Cardoso, 44, faces charges of assault and battery on a child under 14 and kidnapping.
Investigators said they were called to a home on Wentworth Street after a stranger walked up the driveway. According to witnesses, the man tried to pee on the house and began speaking with a few children. When the man was told to leave, he allegedly grabbed one of the children by the back of the neck and tried to drag the child toward the street.
Witnesses jumped in and physically removed the man from the property, according to police. Officers found a suspect, identified as Cardoso, on Darlington Street.
Cardoso will be arranged at Dorchester District Court.
More details were not immediately released.

A juvenile was hit by a car in Boston’s Hyde Park neighborhood on the Fourth of July, and the driver of the vehicle took off, police said.
The incident happened just before 8 p.m. near Dana Avenue and Loring Street, according to Boston police.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
No arrests have been made.
