A Dorchester man is accused of raping and beating a woman in his apartment over the weekend, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
Anthony Dew, 42, was charged with one count of aggravated rape in Dorchester BMC. Dew is accused of violently raping a woman at an apartment on Evelyn Street early Sunday morning.
According to prosecutors, the woman was screaming and spitting up blood when officers first found her, with her jeans pulled down to her ankles and a t-shirt that appeared to be soaked in blood. She said “he raped me” and pointed to an apartment, telling officers a man who lived there raped and beat her as she “went in and out” of consciousness.
The victim was taken to the hospital with bruises and scratches all over her body and swelling and bruising to her mouth and both of her eyes.
Resources for victims of sexual assault are available through the National Sexual Violence Resources Center and the National Sexual Assault Telephone Hotline at 800-656-4673, and Massachusetts provides this list of statewide and resources for sexual assault survivors.
Dew was combative with officers when he found them at the scene. Police noted that he had scratches on his hands and face. Based on the victim’s description of her attacker, he was taken into custody.
“This was a terrible, violent attack, and one likely to have lasting emotional and physical impacts on the victim. We will do everything we can to assist her now and as the case moves forward,” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a media statement.
Dew has a history in the court system – he pleaded guilty to sex trafficking, assault and drug charges in 2016 and was sentenced to eight to 10 years in prison. However, after he finished his sentence in 2023 the conviction was vacated by the Supreme Judicial Court due to ineffective counsel.

A man is now being charged with murder in the death of a Lawrence, Massachusetts, mother whose body was found in a park days after she was reported missing, prosecutors said Tuesday.
The Essex County district attorney had previously said murder charges were expected in the death of Carol Flaz-Burgos, pending the completion of an autopsy. That autopsy has now been completed, and Cristian Montero, who was previously charged with witness intimidation, has now been charged with murder, the DA’s office said.
Montero is due to face the murder charge at an arraignment in Lawrence District Court Wednesday afternoon.
NBC10 Boston has reached out to prosecutors for more on what the autopsy found.

The city of Brockton, Massachusetts, is releasing the results of an independent investigation into what led to a $23 million budget deficit for its school department in 2023.
The Brockton Public Schools budget shortfall came to light in August 2023 it was just before the new school year began and came as a shock to parents, who were frustrated by the appearance of officials being caught off-guard with the issue. An independent review blamed poor money management and oversight, finding that the district failed to record, track and approve spending.
The issues led to chief financial officer, Aldo Petronio, and the district’s deputy financial officer, Chris Correia, being placed on leave. In August of this year, Correia filed a lawsuit against the city of Brockton, claiming that he reported concerns of a potential financial crisis to his supervisors and city officials but they went unanswered. That case is ongoing.
The city commissioned a full investigation by law firm of Nystrom, Beckman & Paris into what went wrong. The report will also include recommendations on how to improve practices in the future.
City officials say investigators took months reviewing thousands of emails, documents and contracts, as well as conducting interviews with public employees and city officials. The full report is expected to be released Tuesday at noon and will be posted on the city’s website.
