LEOMINSTER — The Health Department recently announced a new tool meant to help residents figure out how to get rid of a wide variety of materials that don’t belong in the garbage or in recycling bins.
The Beyond the Bin search tool, called “next level recycle searching,” can be used to find out how and where to donate or recycle items that can’t go in your home recycling bin and are too good to trash. Choose from material categories listed or enter a keyword and your location, then choose an option to drop-off, pick-up or mail-in. The search will then produce a list of locations that can handle the material in question.
Nearby recycling centers include G.W. Shaw and Son, Inc, a disposal contractor, at 124 Old Wilton Road in Greenville, N.H., and AKS Recycling Transfer Station at 15 Cobbler Drive in Fitchburg. AKS can be reached at (800) 965-9425 and G.W. Shaw and Son at (800) 649-7419 or (603) 878-4108.
Leominster Health Department also wants to remind the public that they can dispose of used syringes at city hall, where they can be deposited in a kiosk located in the hallway right outside their office. Prescription drugs and over the counter drugs may be brought to the Leominster Police Department at 29 Church Street. There is a kiosk in the entrance.
