Townsend Water superintendent accused of ethics violation over $4.7M contract
TOWNSEND — The state’s top ethics watchdog has accused Townsend Water Department Superintendent David Vigeant of violating the conflict of interest law by giving a local business operator — who also serves as the town’s fire chief — early access to project plans for a multimillion-dollar water main extension before the project was put out to bid.
CPCS petitions SJC to release jailed defendants amid attorney shortage
Amid a spiraling shortage of court-appointed defense attorneys, the state’s top court is being asked to release jailed indigent defendants left without lawyers — including more than a dozen in Middlesex County — as hundreds of people statewide remain unrepresented.
